Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice serves 25 counties in in Southeast and South Central Kansas. We are a nonprofit organization that provides service to those who have life-limiting illnesses with a prognosis of 6 months (or less) to live.

Hospice is meant to treat patients in a palliate manner, or providing comfort and controlling symptoms. Care includes visits from a home health aide, nurse, doctor, and if desired, chaplains and volunteers. We also have social workers that can counsel patients and their families through grief and help locate needed community resources. Care is given in the home, a nursing home or in some cases, in the hospital, at an inpatient level of care.

Our services are covered by Medicare and Medicaid and most insurance companies. Since 1983 Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice has provided care to people of all ages, from newborns to the very frail elderly, without regard to race, creed or ability to pay.

A limited life expectancy from any illness is a key factor in receiving hospice. Examples include, but are not limited to: ALS, Alzheimer's disease, AIDS, birth defects, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, nuerological disease, Parkinson's disease, or stroke.
